About Palmetto Recovery
Our Philosophy
Palmetto was founded more than 30 years ago by people who believed addiction treatment could be more personal, more accountable, and more connected. As a family-owned program, that belief continues to shape how we care for clients and families today.
We believe recovery requires more than simply stopping substance use. Meaningful change takes structure, honesty, clinical support, peer connection, family involvement when appropriate, and a practical plan for life after treatment.
At Palmetto, clients are treated with dignity while being encouraged to take an active role in their recovery. Our approach pairs compassionate care with clear expectations, helping clients build the responsibility, insight, and support needed for long-term recovery.
Our approach emphasizes:
- Family-owned care with more than 30 years of experience
- A structured therapeutic community model
- Personal responsibility, accountability, and peer support
- Clinical, medical, and psychiatric support when appropriate
- Family involvement and continuing care planning
- Practical preparation for life after treatment

Code of Ethics
At Palmetto, ethical care is part of how we believe treatment should be provided. Clients and families often come to us during difficult and uncertain moments, and they deserve care that is honest, respectful, clinically appropriate, and focused on recovery.
As a family-owned program with more than 30 years of experience, Palmetto’s ethical standards guide how we serve clients, communicate with approved family members and professionals, protect confidentiality, market our services, and make decisions throughout the treatment process.
Honest Marketing and Communication
Palmetto does not engage in misleading or deceptive marketing, advertising, public relations, or promotional practices. We strive to accurately represent our program, our services, our facilities, and the day-to-day experience of treatment.
We believe marketing should provide truthful exposure to who we are — not create a false image of who we wish to appear to be.
Ethical Referrals
Palmetto does not make or receive financial payments, compensation, or remuneration for patient referrals. We do not support referral-buying practices or base referrals on financial arrangements.
When we refer a client or family to another provider, our recommendation is based on clinical appropriateness, client need, and available resources.
Respect and Dignity
Addiction can affect every part of a person’s life, but it does not take away their dignity. Our team works to provide care that is compassionate, direct, and supportive while encouraging each client to take an active role in recovery.
We believe the treatment environment matters. Clients and families deserve clean, well-maintained facilities, healthy food, safe transportation, and a community that reflects care, structure, and respect.
Clinically Appropriate Care
Treatment recommendations should be based on clinical need. Palmetto does not admit clients who are not clinically appropriate for our level of care, treatment model, or community setting.
When another level of care or outside resource is more appropriate, our team works to help clients and families understand available options and make appropriate referrals whenever possible.
Safety and Community Responsibility
Palmetto is responsible not only to each individual client, but also to the safety and well-being of the treatment community as a whole. Decisions about continued care, discharge, or referral to another setting are clinical decisions made with the client’s needs and the safety of the community in mind.
Privacy and Confidentiality
Protecting client privacy is a core responsibility. Palmetto follows applicable privacy and confidentiality requirements, including those related to substance use treatment records. Information is shared only as permitted by law, authorized by the client, or otherwise required in appropriate circumstances.
Palmetto does not exploit client privacy through photos, videos, testimonials, or personal stories. Any use of a former client’s image, likeness, or testimonial must be handled respectfully and only with appropriate written permission after discharge.
Financial Responsibility
We understand that financial questions are an important part of choosing treatment. Palmetto is committed to helping clients and families understand insurance benefits, payment options, estimated treatment expenses when available, and financial responsibilities connected with care.
We do not believe in confusing add-on fees or “nickel-and-diming” families. Our goal is to communicate clearly, provide strong value for the services offered, and help each person make informed decisions before admission whenever possible.
If a client leaves treatment early, Palmetto follows its refund and financial policies regarding any unused prepaid tuition or applicable administrative fees.
Family and Professional Collaboration
Recovery often involves more than the individual client. When appropriate and authorized, Palmetto works with families, referring professionals, employers, boards, monitoring programs, and continuing care providers to support treatment progress and discharge planning.
Visiting Our Program
We encourage clients, families, and referring professionals to learn as much as they can before choosing treatment. When appropriate, we welcome visitors to see our campus, meet our team, and better understand the spirit and structure of the Palmetto community.
Our Commitment
Palmetto is committed to providing care that is honest, clinically thoughtful, personally respectful, and focused on long-term recovery.
