New Patients
Most people do not reach out for treatment because everything is going well. They reach out because something is no longer working, and they are trying to make sense of what is happening and what should happen next.
At Palmetto, the first step is a conversation. Our admissions team will listen as you explain what is going on, what concerns need to be addressed, and what kind of support may be needed. From there, we can talk through whether Palmetto may be an appropriate fit. If another level of care or another resource is more appropriate, we will help you understand that as clearly as we can.
You do not have to have everything figured out before you call. Whether you are reaching out for yourself, a loved one, a patient, an employee, or a client, we will help you understand the process and the next step.
What to Expect
Beginning treatment can feel overwhelming, especially when you are unsure what happens next. At Palmetto, our goal is to help clients and families understand the process, feel supported, and take the next step with as much clarity as possible.
From the first phone call to arrival on campus, we work to answer questions, gather the information needed for admission, and help each person understand what to expect during the first days of care. Our goal is to make the process as clear and manageable as possible.
When preparing for admission, our team can help with:
- Understanding the admissions process
- Discussing treatment needs and level of care
- Reviewing insurance or payment questions
- Coordinating arrival details
- Explaining what to bring and what to leave at home
- Answering questions from clients, families, or referring professionals
Evaluation Process
The evaluation process is designed for individuals who do not identify their use of alcohol or other drugs as problematic. These individuals may be admitted to Palmetto for a period of three days to evaluate the presence and extent of their involvement with problematic drinking or drug use.

Financial FAQs
How much does treatment at Palmetto cost?
The cost of treatment can vary based on clinical needs, level of care, length of stay, insurance benefits, and other individual circumstances. Our admissions team can help review your situation and provide clearer information about available options before admission whenever possible.
Does Palmetto accept insurance?
Palmetto works with many insurance providers. Coverage depends on the individual policy, benefits, medical necessity, level of care, and other plan requirements. Our admissions team can help review insurance benefits and explain what options may be available.
Can Palmetto work with out-of-network insurance benefits?
In some cases, yes. If Palmetto is not in network with a particular insurance plan, our team may still be able to review out-of-network benefits and help determine whether coverage may be available. Because every policy is different, we recommend contacting admissions for a benefits review.
Will insurance cover the full cost of treatment?
Insurance coverage varies by plan and is not guaranteed. Some plans may cover a portion of treatment, while others may involve deductibles, copays, coinsurance, out-of-pocket costs, or authorization requirements. Our admissions team can help explain what your insurance provider indicates before admission whenever possible.
What information is needed to check insurance benefits?
To review insurance benefits, our admissions team typically needs basic client information, insurance policy details, and permission to contact the insurance provider. In some cases, additional clinical information may be needed to help determine the appropriate level of care.
Does Palmetto offer private-pay options?
Yes. For clients who do not use insurance or whose insurance does not cover treatment, Palmetto can discuss private-pay options. Our team can review estimated treatment expenses and help families understand financial expectations before admission whenever possible.
Are there extra fees or add-on charges?
Palmetto believes in clear communication about financial responsibility. Our team works to explain treatment expenses, payment expectations, and any financial obligations connected with care before admission whenever possible.
What happens if a client leaves treatment early?
If a client leaves treatment early, Palmetto follows its financial and refund policies regarding any unused prepaid tuition or applicable administrative fees. Because these details may depend on the specific agreement and circumstances, our admissions or business office team can review the policy before admission.
Can Palmetto help us understand our options before we commit?
Yes. Reaching out does not commit you to treatment. Our admissions team can help answer questions, review insurance or payment options, discuss clinical needs, and help determine whether Palmetto may be an appropriate fit.
Who should I contact with financial questions?
The admissions team is usually the first step. They can help review insurance, private-pay questions, estimated treatment expenses when available, and next steps for admission. If more detailed billing information is needed, they can connect you with the appropriate team member.
