Macee Cherry joined the Palmetto Addiction Recovery Center team after completing her social work internship with the organization in the summer of 2025. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work and is currently pursuing her Master of Social Work at Northwestern State University of Louisiana.
At Palmetto, Macee works with clients in residential treatment by facilitating groups, supporting treatment planning, communicating with families, and helping clients prepare for continuing care. Her professional interests include addiction, mental health, trauma, and women’s recovery.
Her decision to pursue social work was shaped by a desire to understand people and the experiences that influence their lives. Her interest in addiction treatment grew from witnessing the effects substance use can have on individuals, families, and relationships. Macee believes clients should be treated as whole people rather than defined by their addiction. She brings a warm, honest, and nonjudgmental approach to her work and finds the greatest meaning in helping clients recognize their strengths, take meaningful steps toward change, and see that a different future is possible.
